Meet the Team

We believe systems need to be restructured from the ground up, with support rooted in the experiences of those who have lived through them. While many overcome the system despite its flaws, it’s our responsibility to create innovations that ensure success is the standard, not the exception.

Jahnin Smith

Founder

I started Love, Balance, and Bloom because I believe every teen deserves a chance to thrive—especially those in foster care. As a veteran with over 20 years in military, I’ve learned the power of structure, strategy, and heart. My family and I opened our home to foster youth because we couldn’t just talk about change—we had to live it.

LBB is my way of creating that change on a larger scale. We provide life skills, mentorship, and real support to help teens grow into who they’re meant to be. This work is personal, and it’s driven by love, lived experience, and the belief that with the right tools and guidance, every young person can rise.

Executive Director

As a mom, military spouse, and former director of a military child care facility, I’ve dedicated my life to supporting children with structure, compassion, and care. With a Master’s in Clinical Psychology, I’ve learned the power of connection, communication, and truly listening to the stories that kids carry.

Opening our home to foster youth was a natural step—it’s where my heart has always been.

Through Love, Balance, and Bloom, I’m able to provide even deeper support to teens, helping them feel safe, seen, and encouraged as they grow into who they are meant to be.

Growing up, I witnessed my mother open our home to multiple foster kids, offering them the care, stability, and love they needed to heal. Her selflessness and compassion had a profound impact on me, and it instilled in me a deep desire to give back to those who need it most.

As a veteran of the Air Force, I knew that serving others didn’t end with my military career. Joining Love, Balance, and Bloom was a natural way for me to continue that mission. I’m proud to contribute my experiences and the lessons I learned from my mother to support at-risk teens, providing them with the safe, nurturing environment they deserve as they grow and overcome their challenges.

For over 10 years, I was a foster parent to at-risk teens—many of whom were the hardest to place and often overlooked. These teens had faced abuse, neglect, and instability, but I believed they deserved a chance to heal and grow.

The challenges were real, but the rewards were life-changing. I watched teens rebuild their trust, regain their self-esteem, and start to believe in a brighter future. Seeing them graduate or land their first job proved that with love and support, transformation is possible.

Now, through Love, Balance, and Bloom, I continue my mission, helping teens who have faced the hardest battles realize their full potential.

As a teacher with over 10 years of experience, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges faced by teens who lack guidance and support at home. Many of my students come from unstable environments where parents or responsible adults aren’t present, leaving them feeling lost and disconnected.

Despite these struggles, I’ve witnessed the power of a little guidance and encouragement. When these teens receive the right support, they begin to trust themselves and grow. It’s a reminder that with the right care, every teen can rise above their circumstances.

Through Love, Balance, and Bloom, I’m dedicated to providing that steady support, helping teens realize their potential and thrive.
